Occupational day centre

Occupational Day Centres (CDO) are centres wherein the attitudes and skills of people with cognitive disabilities or mental illness can be assessed in relation to work in order to help them begin or recommence employment. They operate from Monday to Friday, between 9am and 3pm.

Objectives

  • To offer a day-time service to people who are the recipients of social care in order to improve or maintain their level of personal independence.
  • To bring about psychosocial rehabilitation, understood as a process that provides people suffering serious and chronic mental illnesses with the necessary skills for consummate social and employment integration.
  • To enable the development of activities connected to occupational and social-workplace settings.
  • To enable occupational training that is primarily concerned with the acquisition basic work habits.

Who it is aimed at

Anyone who meets the following requisites:

 

  • People with serious and chronic mental illness.
  • Those who have been referred by and are being treated by the mental health unit in question.
  • Those who present psycho-pathological stability and a suitable level of motivation to allow them to attend the facility on a daily basis.
  • Those who are in possession of or in the process of obtaining the certificate of disability with a degree of disability graded equal to or greater than 33%.
  • Those who present no serious addictions that could affect the normal running of the facility.
