Individualised support units focusing on employment

These units aim to aim to promote the swift integration of people with a disability, due to severe and persistent mental illness, into ordinary employment with a work contract.

Continuous and flexible support is provided before, during and after successfully joining the workforce.

Objectives

  • To facilitate and support the incorporation into the job market of individuals with a disability resulting from a serious mental illness.
  • To offer individualised monitoring, support and accompaniment to each person according to their specific needs with the purpose gaining access to, maintaining and consolidating employment with the greatest possible deal of autonomy and integration in each case.
  • To raise awareness in companies and advise and provide information to them in relation to workplace integration of people with disabilities.
  • To extend and consolidate collaboration with the business world, institutions and associations in order to increase opportunities of workplace integration for this group.

Who it is aimed at

  • People with disabilities resulting from a serious mental illness, aged between 18 and 50 years old.
  • Those who are being treated by, have been referred from and are being monitored by the corresponding Mental Health Unit or the Centres for Psychosocial Rehabilitation (CRPS).
  • Those who are not in an acute phase of the illness.
  • Those who express an obvious desire for employment.
  • Those who have received a positive employability assessment by the unit.
  • Those who are current holders of or in the process of obtaining the classification of disabled.
  • Those who commit to collaborate in their process of workplace integration along with their families.

Services offered

  • Active employment search attending to the employment preferences of each person, in accordance with their needs, interests and skills.
  • Placement in normal employment in such a manner that the workplace itself becomes the place where the individual is trained and fulfils the proposed objectives.
  • Monitoring of the person’s work life from the moment they enter the facility in order to help them maintain the post and required performance.

How

In order to gain access to the Individual Employment Support Units (EAIE), people must be referred from the Mental Health Community Units, the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Centres (CRPS) and/or the Assertive Community Unit (ECA). The EAIE will subsequently carry out individual assessment with each referral for the purpose of assessing employment suitability. Once admitted, the Institute of Social and Socio-Sanitary Care (IASS) will notify the person and their family in line with appropriate administrative proceedings (IASS).
