The landscape reflects the ecological, socio-economic and cultural heritage of a people. Its conservation is a fundamental element in terms of the well-being of the population.
Amongst other duties, the Cabildo's Insular Directorate for the Countryside and Urban Environment is responsible for conceiving and developing a series of activities aimed at fulfilling three fundamental functions in terms of the landscape of Tenerife:
- The protection of representative and singular elements.
- The management of the landscape from the perspective of sustainable development, adapting economic and social activity in order to ensure respect for the environment.
- Organisation with a view to anticipating and adapting to the transformations that may arise.
