Consumer claims

There are various bodies charged with the responsibilities and functions of regulating consumption,  especially in the area of the protection of consumer rights. These bodies, in addition to providing consumers with information, can mediate between consumers and businesses to help both parties come to an agreement.

Where to file a complaint

To file a complaint with a consumer body, visit your Municipal or Insular Office for Consumer Information (OMIC/OIIC) or the Central Office for Consumption .

How make a complaint

In businesses

  • All businesses that sell goods, provide services or engage in professional activities in the Canary Islands must have a complaint book available to customers.
  • People who make house calls or home deliveries must also have complaint book forms available for customers.
  • The form should be completed by clearly stating the reason for the complaint.
  • The business can then make the changes it deems necessary.
  • The complaint should be filed with a Municipal or Insular Consumer Information Centre. It is advisable to adjoin as much proof or documentation as possible to support the complaint.

The Central Office for Consumption

Will provide you with a form to file your complaint.
